Spoken Word Poetry Events

Nights of live lit are essential to writers. They're a place where all of the hermit toils that you labour away at for hours on end can finally translate into the real world. There are now real people and faces to take in, words are now physical as they're cast from your mouth. You meet people who you wouldn't have done otherwise and form bonds over experiences written and spoken about. These places are special.

This is the reason why we're currently trying to generate a list of regular spoken word poetry/open mic nights across the UK (and maybe even beyond) to feature in Low Light Magazine. Obviously the list will develop over time but we were wondering if you wonderful people out there would give us a bit of help starting it off.

If you'd like to let us know about a night you run, are a regular at or that you've heard is banging then please let us know in the comments below. All that you have to let us know is: the name of the event, venue, town/city, postcode (where possible), the frequency e.g. third Thursday of every month and anywhere to keep up to date (twitter, etc.). Give us as many as you can so that we can get a fully comprehensive list where people can find out where all the happenings are happening.

These nights have become a part of some of us, I'm certain of that, but all to often it's hard for people to really find what's going off. Point us to your scene and when we're in town we'll drop in.
